Historic 1887 Hewitt House and Cottage

The Big House (left rear) was built in 1887 by Portland Stationer, J. K. Gill, as a family summer home. The Last Resort Cottage (right front) was partially built with wood salvaged from the shipwrecked “Frank W. Howe” in 1904. The property has been owned and operated by our family for three generations since 1927. Formerly known as Fisher’s Ocean View Cottages, it has been called Hewitt House since 1965. Both units were extensively remodeled and updated by a local architect/builder between the years of 1998 - 2001.

We offer two nicely appointed rental units on the same property; The Big House and The Last Resort. The Big House includes the downstairs space only. Rented separately, there is ample privacy but they can also be rented together for retreats, larger groups and/or family reunions.
Long Beach and Ilwaco are just a short drive as is Fort Canby State Park and the Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center. A little further up the Peninsula is historic Oysterville and the scenic Willapa Bay. There are many things to see and do on the Peninsula or just relax and enjoy the tranquil setting of Hewitt House.
For the comfort of all of our guests we are a non-smoking establishment. We also ask that open candles not be used for safety reasons. We are pet friendly but require a $25 one time non-refundable pet fee. Both rental units are warmed by electric heat and supplemented by wood burning devices. Hewitt House includes free WiFi and a washer and dryer.
