Historic Hewitt House Vacation Rentals

The Big House (left rear) was built in 1887 by Portland Stationer, J. K. Gill, as a summer home. The Last Resort Cottage (right front) was initially one of a number of rental cabins, many of which no longer exist. The property has been owned and operated by our family for three generations since 1927. Formerly known as Fisher’s Ocean View Cottages, it has been called Hewitt House since 1965. Both homes were extensively remodeled and updated by a local architect/builder between the years of 1998 - 2001.

We offer two nicely appointed and fully equipped rental units on the same property. The Big House includes the main floor only and has a maximum capacity of 8 people. The Last Resort has a maximum capacity of 6 people. Rented separately there is ample privacy but they can also be rented together for retreats, larger groups, and family reunions.

Long Beach and Ilwaco are just a short drive as is Cape Disappointment State Park (formerly Fort Canby State Park) and the Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center. A little further up the Peninsula is historic Oysterville and the scenic Willapa Bay. There are many things to see and do on the Peninsula or just relax and enjoy the tranquil setting of Hewitt House.

For the comfort of all of our guests we are a non-smoking establishment. We also ask that open candles not be used for safety reasons. We welcome well behaved pets with thoughtful owners with approval. Both rental units are warmed by electric heat and supplemented by a gas fireplace (Big House) or a gas stove (Last Resort). Free WiFi and a shared washer and dryer are provided.
